THE 1st XI entertained the Old Kelleians on Saturday on the nicest day of the summer so far. The OKs were invited to bat, on a pitch looking full of runs, openers Patridge and Anderson raced to 40 for no wicket off only 8 overs but the introduction of O Thomas and F Frost soon caused havoc amongst the OK?s batting reducing them to 55 for 4. Marsden and veteran Ryder, recently selected for Cornwall?s over 50s, steadied the innings putting together a fluent 40 run partnership. The re-introduction of skipper Hall and Koranteng finished the OK?s innings on 119 all out. This looked too small a total on a good pitch with a fast out field. Kelly?s innings started cautiously and without any undue problems until the introduction of MacManus who ripped through the Kelly middle order taking 3 for 17, Koranteng was the only player to offer much resistance with 28. With 40 more runs needed and 4 wickets in hand the match was evenly balanced, but Willets and O Thomas threw caution to the wind knocking off the required runs in 6 exhilarating overs enabling Kelly to win by 4 wickets.
