SHOPS and tourist-related businesses in Okehampton are being offered the opportunity to advertise free of charge for six months on a website set up by the town's chamber of trade. Chamber chairman, Ian Bailey, said: 'We are asking all shops, guest houses, and tourist-related businesses to provide a photo and brief details of their businesses up to 80 words, that can be put on the website to show the variety of shops and attractions in and around Okehampton.' The website, which is supported by West Devon Borough Council, currently attracts over 2,500 hits per month. 'We have a town with a wide variety of shops and interests for the visitor — and a full and varied website will help to convert those hits to bookings,' Mr Bailey said. The chamber has decided that each qualifying business can advertise for a period of six months free of charge — those wishing to remain on the site will be charged a renewal fee of just £25. Businesses that qualify for inclusion on the site should send a photograph and details to the tourist information centre in Okehampton or to chamber secretary Janet Gee at 41 Station Road, Okehampton.
