Okehampton U16s 4

Uplowman U16s 0

OKEHAMPTON fielded a full strength side for the first time this season against bottom of the league Uplowman.

Okehampton looked dangerous in attack and after only five minutes Phil Woods crashed the ball into the back of the net to take an early lead.

Okehampton continued to press but could not convert opportunities and it was the visitors? turn to attack. Some great work in defence from Collins and Wonnacott, Chapman and Woods as well as some tidy goalkeeping kept the lead for Okehampton.

Okehampton pushed again and captain Ben Kimber rounded the keeper and found the goal to go in 2-0 at the break.

With the wind Okehampton again looked the stronger side with the midfield of Merttens, King, Kimber and Weekes giving strikers Arnot and Prouse ball with which to attack.

Both strikers got their names on the scoresheet with well taken one-on-one finishes. More solid defending gave the visitors no chance of a comeback. Wonnacott twice cleared from the line to give a satisfactory win.

THIS was another important match in Okehampton?s run towards the end of the season as they need to keep winning or at least a draw to finnsh in the top three of the league.

Crediton kicked off and within the first minute had secured a goal with Okehampton?s defence still wondering what had happened.

Okehampton immediately responded with a superb goal which began with Bradley Ausden running from within the Crediton half and passing the ball to Harry Smith who scored.

Crediton took control of the field and once more the Okehampton defence struggled to keep them out as they scored two more goals.

William Searle bought Okehampton back into the game when they were awarded a free-kick just outside the box and he powered his shot through the middle and into the net.

The second half began in much the same way as the first with Crediton scoring another early goal.

A determined Okehampton defence worked harder as a team in the second half to keep pace with the onslaught from Crediton.

Okehampton pulled together as a team and had some goods chances, notably from Jacob Ayris whose shot ran inches past the post.

Okehampton found the net again eight minutes from time. Another fine run from Ausden saw his shot on goal pushed away by the keeper and Smith scoring on the rebound.
