A DYNAMIC evening of acoustic music featuring Sean Lakeman and Kathryn Roberts ? who front the band 'Equation' ? supported by the 'Strawberry Thieves' takes place upstairs at the Ordulph Arms, Tavistock on Friday, September 3.

With an eclectic repertoire of traditional songs alongside favourites from the likes of Tom Waits and Suzanne Vega, Kathryn and Sean wear their roots and influences proudly on their sleeves.

Kathryn Roberts and fellow Equation partner Sean Lakeman ? who were nominated for the 'Best Duo' on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards ? have returned to the British folk clubs again this year.

The success of their low key acoustic duo CD, simply entitled ?1? has fuelled great interest and enthusiasm amongst folk fans who thought that Kathryn had been lost forever to the bright lights of rock 'n' roll America.

After another marathon three month summer/fall tour of the States with Equation last year, Kathryn and Sean were looking forward to 'un-plugging' and getting back to their roots once more to re-capture the special rapport that exists between performer and audience in an intimate acoustic setting.

They will be supported at the Ordulph by The Strawberry Thieves: Dave Baybutt on acoustic guitars, harmonica, vocals; Brian Garrett on electric and steel and nylon acoustic guitars, vocals and Pete Langford on percussion, acoustic guitar and vocals.

The band was formed in 1995 by Dave and Brian, with Pete completing the line-up in 1996.

The event is organised by Tavistock Music Live, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to bringing more live music to Tavistock.
