TAVISTOCK Ladies' second hockey XI came face to face with a strong University team. Both teams worked hard during the first half. Tavistock managed to keep possession in the Uni's goal area but were denied the glory of goal after numerous working of the ball into the attacking area from forwards George Rooth and Robynne Honey.

The Uni side were determined to turn the ball and continued to launch strong attacks through the centre to make ground along the pitch, but a strong Tavistock defence showed strong blockages from Nell Trotter. Tavistock's keeper Ros Watts was mainly unoccupied and when pushed, made good clearances of the ball.

In the second half the Uni side were quick to launch their attack in the first few minutes and dominated after

Tavistock were unlucky fully to clear the ball up to their forwards.

After many clearances from Sarah Guy, Zoe Viggers and Jo Solman the Uni side were lucky to put themselves one up.

Tavistock continued to deny Uni a second chance on goal and were unlucky not to have equalised after a hit out from Solman went threequarters of the way up to find Honey. She passed accurately between Kate Eadie and George Rooth and the ball went to Sarah Barratt on the right who was denied the glory of a goal from a strong University defence.
