TWO second places for the Ordulph Arms have brought them within one point of overall second place in the Tavistock Quiz League.

They started four weeks after the other teams, but have steadily caught up with a series of impressive results.

At times they have threatened the leaders Union, but have yet to topple them on a quiz night.

As expected, Union A won both fixtures to register 11 wins in 12 outings.

Results ? At Royal Standard: 1, Union A, 67 points; 2, Ordulph, 62; 3, Tavistock Inn, 60; 4, Royal Standard, 58.

At Ordulph Arms: 1, Union A, 68 points; 2, Ordulph, 63; 3, Tavistock Inn, 55; 4, Royal Standard, 53; 5. Union B, 33.

l Ten local teams competed in the Bere Community Project?s annual Quiz Night in Bere Alston Parish Hall on Saturday, March 20.

A battle royal resulted in the team comprising Robert Furneaux, Mick and Louise Parker emerging in first place, with the next two teams a short distance behind tying for second place.

The questions were compiled by Charlotte and Jonathon Hammond and questionmasters were George Nash and Fern Hughes.
