Devon Plate semi-final

Okehampton U15s 14

Sidmouth U15s 19

OKEHAMPTON started well and put pressure on the Sidmouth line but were unable to score and also missing an early penalty attempt.

Sidmouth responded well and looked dangerous as they took the took the play into the Okes' half.

A yellow card  proved costly for Okes as they lost concentration and allowed Sidmouth to score two quick tries and take a 12-0 lead.

Restored to full strength the home side again put pressure on the Sidmouth line with a series of penalties and rucks they tried to put their big men over but Sidmouth defended well.

Okes finally scored as clever play from Sam Ewen found space from a short scrum and fed Chris Courtier to power over near the posts.

The first half ended with Sidmouth losing a player to the sin bin and with only a 12-7 lead Okes were confident of getting back in the game.

However, from the restart Okes dropped the ball giving Sidmouth excellent field position and some quick incisive play coupled with poor Okes' defence saw them increase their lead with an excellent try and conversion.

Okehampton responded but the Sidmouth defence held firm until a clearance kick was gathered at pace by full back Craig Dennis who sprinted through the Sidmouth cover to score under the posts and convert his own try to reduce the deficit to 19-14.

The rest of the game was very even with both teams enjoying periods of posession but Sidmouth held out for the win and the Okes cup adventure came to a close.
