INDEPENDENTS triumphed in elections to the south ward of Tavistock Town Council last Thursday — two of the three Independents standing topped the poll. The Conservatives won four of the ward's seven seats. But the result held no joy for the Liberal Democrats whose two candidates failed to win election. Result: Tavistock South, turnout 44.38%.
