TWO women were cut free from a traffic collision by firefighters near Tavistock on Saturday morning.

The incident, on the A390 at Lumburn, occurred around 9am and involved a vehicle with a trailer and a dumper truck.

Two fire appliances from Tavistock attended and the women were released from the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment and taken to hospital.

Approximately 20 litres of diesel was spilled during the collision and was later cleared by the fire crews.
