ALMOST 100 people took part in the twilight stroll organised by the Lions Club of Tavistock last week, to raise money for Children's Hospice South West (CHSW).

This unique event took the walkers, which included the mayors of West Devon and Tavistock plus their spouses and three residents and carers from Crossways in Down Road, along the new cycle path from Anderton Lane, through the recently opened tunnel and across the magnificent Gem Bridge and back to Crowndale.

On their return, they were  provided with a well deserved free hot drink supplied by volunteers Mandy and Nicola from Tavistock Community Football Club and a cuddly teddy kindly donated by CHSW.

The Lions barbecue also did a roaring trade in hot dogs and burgers.

Judy Pride, community fundraiser for CHSW and Lion president Alan Wroath thanked all the walkers who took part in the stroll, Tavistock Community Football Club for their invaluable assistance and Kountry Kit for their financial support.

All concerned said what an enjoyable event it had been and the Lions Club is considering staging it again next year when hopefully the weather will be somewhat kinder.
