FORMER Tavistock College actor, TV presenter and reporter, Steve Wilson, is experiencing life 'across the pond', as he films in New York for the live BBC daily magazine programme X-Change.
Steve, who comes from Townlake near Horsebridge, is being escorted around sites such as Ground Zero, Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park and the Empire State Building by New York teenagers, who provide their own perspective on living in the city.
He will also be going to the Bronx and Harlem to meet 'Kace 2' to learn how to be a graffiti artist.
Kace 2 is recognised as the originator of graffiti art on the New York subway and his work is now exhibited at the Harlem Hall of Fame.
Among the celebrities appearing with Steve on recent live X-Change programmes have been the top bands Busted, Blue and West Life, tennis player Tim Henman and Alex Parks and Lemar from Fame Academy.
During his recent BBC1 TV show 'Call the Shots', Steve spent a week training as a professional stunt man and his interest in extreme sports will also be reflected in forthcoming TV shows. He will be reporting on an attempt at the world kite surfing record around the Isle of Wight for the BBC1 programme 'Inside Out' and interview the UK's number one BMX rider.
Steve's career so far has embraced acting in straight plays, singing in musicals and appearing with the English Shakespeare Company, the National Youth Music Theatre and Plymouth's Young Company. For two years he was a member of the London band De Stijl, managed by Tom Watkins who also guided the careers of the Pet Shop Boys and East 17.
X-Change is screened twice daily on the CBBC channel, at 7.30am, repeated at 1pm, and at 5.30pm for the live programme.
