A WEEK of fun and games is in store at Winkleigh, as the village?s annual fair gets under way tomorrow (Friday).
The programme of events begins at 5.30pm with a clay pigeon shoot in the playing fields. A church fete will be held on Saturday in the community centre, with teas available in the village hall.
On Sunday, Crediton Town Band will play in the fair at 2.30pm, after which organisations will assemble in the square for the parade to All Saints Church for the egg and flower service when children are invited to bring eggs and flowers to be distributed during fair week.
The week will then be officially declared open by TV personality Ron Bendall, when the fair queen Zoe Hall and her attendants Jasmine Edworthy and Stephanie German will be crowned. The prizes for the garden and hanging basket competitions will also be presented.
On Monday there will be a children?s treasure hunt and concert in the village hall. A car treasure hunt takes place on Tuesday and on Thursday there will be a family film night in the village hall, featuring the new Disney cartoon Treasure Planet.
A children?s swimming gala takes place at Four Seasons Village on Friday, before the main fair day on Saturday July 19.
On this, the final day of the week?s events, there will be kite making workshops, bands, fancy dress, belly dancers, village races and a naval gun run, in addition to a host of other entertainments and activities.
