CHILDREN can step back in time this Saturday and experience what life was like as a Victorian industrial apprentice at Finch Foundry, in Sticklepath.

Children aged between seven and ten years will have the opportunity to wear Victorian working clothes, undertake some of the good and bad tasks a new apprentice would have had to do.

Roger Boney, custodian at Finch Foundry, said: 'This is a unique opportunity for children to experience life as a Victorian child working for Mr Finch, who owned the Foundry in 1890.'

A special tour of the foundry will also be included so visitors can see the water wheel and trip hammers working.

Children will also be able to complete an historical quiz during the day and take home a souvenir of their visit.

To avoid disappointment pre-booking is essential on 01837 840046. Tour times are 10.45am, 12.45pm or 2.45pm. The cost is £2.50 per child plus normal admission charges — adults £4.20 and children: £2.10.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.
