I AND the Highampton Action Committee respond to Linda Slade's letter (July 5), about the setting up of C-far's rehabilitation centre for criminals in the midst of our community.
Myself and the other HAC members welcome her views as a resident of Highampton, but we have been elected by the village to represent the majority view of the 260 parishioners, which is to oppose C-far's takeover of Burdon Grange Nursing Home.
Mrs. Slade accuses me of assuming to know the feelings and wishes of the people of Highampton. All my assertions are based on facts not assumptions.
I suggest that she does what myself and the other seven committee members have done; and that is to talk to the community in the local pub, shop, school, houses and on the street. Then she will soon realise that her views are shared by only a microscopic number of people in the whole community.
