VINTAGE tractors made a fine sight around the Lamerton area recently, as their owners took part in a fundraising run for St Peter's Church.
More than 30 vehicles took part in the 25-mile ride around the area, which concluded with refreshments at Great Haye Barn.
Ian Minshull of St Peter's Church said the run, instigated by Matthew Young of Great Haye, went 'extremely well'.
'It raised more than £600 which was just amazing. In these times when we are in economic dire straits, it's amazing how people will still make such an effort.'
Ian said church supporters had raised £31,000 for St Peter's in the last three years — they hope to raise another £12,000 in the next two to three years, enabling work to be carried out that would see the church in good condition for generations to come.
