WEST Devon resident Roger Mechan will this month be setting off to walk through Europe to raise money for Help for Heroes.
Sixty-six year old Roger is in his third year of tramping the back trails of France and Spain, having previously trekked a total of 800 miles along the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela, and a trek made famous by the author Robert Louis Stevenson through the Cevennes of central France.
This year he will be following the 200 mile route along the Nantes to Brest canal and then on to Roscoff.
Roger, who lives at Dousland, hopes to increase the £4,200 his efforts have so far amassed to £5,000 by the end of the year, and will be holding a collection in Tavistock's Bedford Square on Saturday, June 8.
