THE work of more than 56 individuals and artists who have explored differing aspects of contemporary life on Dartmoor can be seen at the High Moorland Centre in Princetown over the next month.
'Dartmoor Profile', '10 Journeys' and 'Dartmoor Lives and Landscapes' are three projects which were carried out in the past year under the auspices of the Princetown-based Aune Head Arts organisation.
Artist Suky Best videographed the routine journeys of ten residents — including driving the school run and walking the common to check on livestock — and then digitised the images and printed them out as journeys of 24 frames each for the '10 Journeys' project.
'Dartmoor Lives and Landscapes' is a series of video shorts created by a team of community volunteers, some of whom had video experience, with some being beginners.
A series of training workshops in videography, editing and sound technology resulted in a video giving a dynamic view of contemporary Dartmoor.
The limited-edition handmade book 'Dartmoor Profile' combines the ancient techniques of printmaking and bookbinding with digital imagemaking.
The community-led project celebrates 50 years of Dartmoor National Park in print, photography, poetry and prose. Individuals and artists from across Dartmoor contribute to the book.
A version of the book has also been produced on CD-ROM.
The three projects will be on display at the visitor centre from 10am to 5pm daily until Wednesday, July 17.
