TRIBUTES have been paid by family members and colleagues to Shebbear College teacher Charlotte Simpson who died following a road collision on June 12.
Charlotte, aged 24 from Beaworthy, died three days after the collision at Halwill surrounded by her family.
Her father Greg said the family was stricken with grief at her loss.
'We are devastated at the loss of our beautiful daughter and Annie's sister, Charlotte,' he said.
'The brightest light has been extinguished from our lives.'
He said Charlotte was a very talented woman who wanted to help everyone.
'Charlotte's wish was to make available her organs for donation which was carried out on Tuesday at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth,' he said.
Headmaster of Shebbear College Simon Weale said all the staff and pupils were devastated by Charlotte's death.
He said two years ago Charlotte came to look around and within months she had joined Shebbear College as a graduate trainee teacher who was teaching English and helping in the boarding community.
'Charlotte became a very keen sports coach but she was also prepared to have a go at just about everything – the staff choir, the boarders' review, a charity play, trips to France and Barbados and so much more.
'Charlotte was sailing through her PGCE with consistently outstanding lesson observation grades.
'In the last few months her life was really coming together as she had secured a prestigious job promotion near her beloved family in Ipswich and she was thriving in her other vocation, the Territorial Army.
'She was a star respected and loved by everyone at Shebbear for her wisdom, professionalism and warm-heartedness. We are absolutely bereft by her loss and our thoughts are very much with her parents and sister at this terrible time.'
Officers from Bodmin Serious Collisions Investigation Unit are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision which occurred around 4.30pm on the A3079 at Halwill on Friday, June 12.
