SPOOKY characters will be lurking in the gardens and grounds of Castle Drogo on Hallowe'en.

Visitors will be met at reception for the evening event on October 31 before being whisked away to listen to a spooky story in the summerhouse followed by a guided walk around the gardens and grounds looking for ghostly figures.

The ghost storytelling and walk runs between 6pm and 7pm and during the day there is face painting between 11am and 4pm and mask making between 4pm and 6pm.

Half-term week includes other activities for children such as a date with creepy crawlies on October 25 when Exeter Bug Club comes to visit, kite making workshops on October 26, collecting and sowing seeds with the head gardener the following day and a

children's woodland sculpture workshop on October 29.

For adults there is a two-hour autumn wildlife walk with the warden on October 26 where visitors can enjoy the rich colours in the wooded gorge of the Teign Valley.

On October 28 gardeners can collect seeds from Drogo's selection of plants.
