Okehampton and District Community Transport Group is appealing for volunteers in the town after finding themselves short staffed.
The organisation is specifically looking for drivers who live in Okehampton, though they always welcome those from the wider area.
Sue Wonnacott, co-ordinator of the group, said: 'We are desperately seeking volunteer drivers who live in Okehampton —although we have had several new drivers volunteer, they are all in village locations.
'As a large percentage of our requests come from Okehampton residents for both local journeys and those further afield, we are finding it increasingly difficult to satisfy all requests.'
The group provides transport to hospital and medical appointments, and social visits.
It pays the drivers 45p per mile and also indemnifies their no claims bonus and policy excess.
Volunteers can spare as much time as they like, from a couple of hours a month upward. Drivers with relevant experience can also volunteer to drive the wheelchair-accessible vehicle on trips.
If you would like to volunteer or wish to find out more about the group, call Sue on 01837 55000.
