RURAL skills and farming history will be the focus of a special event in Exbourne on Saturday, September 8.

In conjunction with English Heritage Open Days, Exbourne Local History Group is holding a farming and rural skills day in the village hall from 10am to 4pm.

Visitors can try their hand at reed rope making at 11am, blacksmithing at noon and wood turning at 2pm, or willow work throughout the day.

On display in the village hall will be various old tools and farming memorabilia. Farmers in the parish will have a small display of vintage farming machinery.

Pasties, tea, coffee and a taste of local cider will be available at lunchtime.

Devon cream teas will be served from 2.30pm.

Entry is free, and all are welcome.
