TAVISTOCK entered two teams in the first ever girls' football festival held at Horrabridge.

The under 12s of Louise Galway, Robynne Honey, Rhianne Parsons, Tamsin Bryant, Chloe Bassett, Holly Soanes, Heidi Davies, Clarice Payne and Sarah Barrett fought their way to the semi-final, winning every match and coming top of their group.

Activate put them out in the semis winning 3-1 but it was a good all round team performance on a hot day.

The under 10s of Rebecca Rose, Jessie Dadds, Emma Hyde, Lauren Hayward, Nicole Murray, Clarice Payne and Robyn Hammond fought their way to the semi-finals with Hammond scoring all 13 goals.

In a penalty shoot out to put them in the finals, Murray scored the goal that put them through. They then faced a strong Staddiscombe side but Hammond broke through after a good clearance from Hyde. Murray slotted through for Hammond to get her 14th of the tournament and joint young player of the tournament.

A newly formed under 10s picked up the shield for overall winners.
