OUTGOING vicar of Tavistock and Gulworthy Prebendary John Rawlings will be collated as Archdeacon of Totnes today (Thursday.) Mr Rawlings will take up his new post in February after spending Christmas in the parishes where he has served for the last 14 years. His new title will be The Venerable John Rawlings, Archdeacon of Totnes. The service is being held in St Mary?s Church, Totnes and will be led by the Bishop of Exeter, The Rt Rev Michael Langrish. The Archdeaconry of Totnes stretches from Hatherleigh across Dartmoor, to the South Hams and Torbay. Archdeacons share with bishops in the pastoral care of lay and ordained people and perform much of the ecclesiastical legal work in their areas.
