Andrew is a consultant to the Tavistock World Heritage Site Key Centre Steering Group for whom he recently produced an interpretation strategy. He has also been commissioned by the Tamar Valley Mining Heritage Project to produce interpretation panels in the town.
Andrew said: 'Tavistock has been described as "the urban jewel" of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape which was inscribed by UNESCO in 2006 and this talk will examine what World Heritage status means and why the town merits such distinction and the implications for both visitors and residents alike.'
Andrew believes passionately in bringing history and heritage to life so that they are accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.
He studied history at University College London and St John's College, Cambridge and has an MA in archaeology from the University of Leicester. He is a freelance lecturer and guide and has worked with a wide range of organisations including schools, lifelong learning providers, universities, National Trust, U3As, history societies and youth and community groups.
He currently combines freelance work with managing the Museum of Dartmoor Life in Okehampton.
The talk will take place at the Bedford Hotel at 2pm and is free of charge.
