Tavistock v Hatherleigh
AFTER being rained off in the first week of the new season at Abbotskerswill, Tavistock welcomed local friends Hatherleigh to Tavistock.
Captain J McGahey won the toss and on a wet wicket put Hatherleigh into bat.
Hatherleigh were in early trouble when B Thomas struck having J Cherrington caught and bowled for three.
Jacobs followed for 11 and Hatherleigh were Wobbling but 35 from J Rodgers and 28 from N Rodgers steadied the ship. Progress was very slow thanks to tight bowling by Tavistock.
N Rodgers was caught by McGahey at mid wicket and R Cherrington fell to the same players, a divine catch at extra over.
At 82 for seven with 10 overs to go, a good total seemed along was away.
But then R Davis came to the wicket and blasted the ball to all parts, the only one to get to grips with the slow wicket. His 48 not out pushed Hatherleigh to 157 for 8, a good total on a slow wicket.
The Tavistock reply got off to a good start with three lovely off drives by Goodchild but wholed out at mid off and Webber went soon after bowled for 10.
The Tavistock top order all failed to turn starts into a match winning innings, it was left to B Thomas 18 and D Jeffrey to hold out for a draw.
Hatherleigh 13 pts, Tavistock 7.
