ROADS in Okehampton will be closed to through traffic in the coming week while resurfacing work is carried out. Simmons Way, Okehampton, will be closed tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow night while the work takes place. A temporary road traffic closure notice has been issued and will be in operation between 6pm and 11pm on the two nights. Next Thursday (June 22) and Friday will see Mill Road closed, again between 6pm and 11pm for more resurfacing. Alternative routes will be in operation from Mill Road, in via Okehampton College to Courtenay Road and vice versa. The road between Stoning Cross and Great Vellaford Copse in Victoria Road, Hatherleigh, will close for seven weeks from Monday (June 19). The closure is to allow mains rehabilitation work to be carried out on behalf of South West Water. There will be a diversion in place from Vellaford Farm to Monkokehampton, then along the B3217 to Exbourne then right on the A3072 and the B3216 to Basset?s Cross, from there to Hatherleigh and Stoning Cross and vice-versa.
