Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 1 Falmouth Town 3 THE Lambs included Craig Howells deputising for the injured Andy Meeds with Will Westlake, Nigel Pugh, Mark Conday and James Steer all back into the starting line up after the performance in the previous game. It got off to the perfect start for them after surviving an opening minute free kick from the visitors. Howells? kick out saw Conday put the ball through for Paul Adcock. He turned it back for Westlake on the corner of the penalty area to strike first time into the near post top corner leaving keeper Gary Penhaligan static. John Morris glanced a header wide on the half-hour with Jay Isbell doing similar for Falmouth. Adcock was unlucky as he flicked the ball over Penhaligan from an acute angle only to see the ball hit post and crossbar minutes later. The ?Shipbuilders? were back on level terms with ten minutes of the half remaining when Tom Sundercombe ran from distance down the flank to cut in and send in a low shot that went wide of Howells in to the bottom corner. Again Adcock was unlucky when Westlake went down the wing to cross in low but the ball appeared to bobble in front of him and the chance went. The Lambs had looked suspect on set-pieces with Falmouth forcing three consecutive corners in the first half. It was from a similar situation that the home side found themselves behind on 55 minutes when Sundercombe?s cross was headed home by Lee Whetters. Morris then sent Westlake away but he shot wide, with Adcock going close as the Lambs made every effort to get back on level terms. The visitors wrapped the game up with seven minutes remaining. Howells did well to keep out a Dan Nancarrow effort to concede a corner but from it Nancarrow?s cross was headed home by Whetters for his second and Town?s third to put a dampener on the Lambs? run-in to the end of the season. APL Callington Town 1 Tavistock 1 POSSIBLY from both camps it will be Callington who will be happy with a point to steer away from the re-election area and the Lambs will be disappointed yet again as another two points slips away to leave them out of the top six positions. With a strong wind behind them it was the Lambs who had the majority of chances in the opening stages. Mark Conday whipped in a cross after two minutes with no one on the end of it. From a Dave Hallett corner on seven minutes keeper Vinnie Bowman failed to collect and Darren Babb, stretching, made contact but his effort struck the bottom of the far post from an acute angle. Chris Menhenick then saw his rasping drive pushed out by Bowman. He then made another save from Conday after Will Stringer sent him in on goal. The home side, despite their approach work, did not really test Andy Meeds. Will Westlake then saw Bowman palm his effort high and was able to gather at the second attempt. The Lambs then felt that they scored a perfectly good goal on the stroke of half time. Conday got away from Paul Sowden out wide to race in on goal to send the ball past Bowman but his effort struck the bottom of the post. When it came back Hallett gathered to turn inside and smash it through a crowd of players into the roof of the net but it was deemed that one of Hallet?s team was in an offside position and it was disallowed. The home side immediately came more into the game as the second half started with Lee Blatchford getting on the end of a Sowden free kick on 50 minutes to volley from close range to see Meeds block his effort. Westlake then shot straight at Bowman before Blatchford saw his headed effort hit the angle of crossbar and post on 68 minutes. Bowman was earning his corn as he kept out a Westlake effort but they finally got the breakthrough on 73 minutes. Moments earlier from consecutive corners they saw efforts hit the post and cleared off the line. Krac sent the ball back in for Babb to get a header in and Westlake hovering at the far post to smash home from close range. It was from another contentious decision that the home side got back on level terms. Babb and sub Craig Wassell clashed in a challenge for the ball out wide for the referee to give a free kick for Tavistock and his assistant giving the kick to Callington. After discussion the kick was awarded to Callington and from it Richard Daley arrived at the far post to head home for a share of the points. Another disappointing result for the Lambs with missed chances but to be fair Callington?s keeper Bowman kept his side in the game throughout to help them gain the point.
