A RECEPTION to mark the change of ownership of Aalen House Nursing Home in Okehampton was attended last week by town mayor Cllr Tony Leech and his wife, Sue, the lady mayoress. More than 70 people representing the local community, health and social services as well as a number of residents? relatives gathered for the reception last Thursday. The event was held to welcome Prakash Dewani and his family to Aalen House and bid a farewell to Mrs Janeene Nicholas and Mr and Mrs Graham Reynolds who are retiring after serving the home for more than 15 years. The home, which has facilities to care for 32 elderly residents, is undergoing a major refurbishment programme to upgrade the facilities. All the staff at Aalen House have been taken on by the new owners and will continue working under Jan Hazell the registered nurse manager. They are also looking to boost their team with a deputy nurse manager as well as more senior carers. Another of Mr Dewani?s homes, Angela Court in Tipton St John, has recently been accredited with the Investors in People Award.
