A SPECIAL one-off concert featuring the lead guitarist of a popular 60s rock band will be staged at the Ordulph, Tavistock, next week, in aid of Help for Heroes.
Martin Barre from 'Jethro Tull', a band which shot to fame in the 60s, is performing at the bar with acoustic artist Dan Crisp.
Martin is currently on tour with Jethro Tull as part of the band's 40th anniversary celebrations, a tour which has taken them all over America, Europe, India and England.
Martin has enjoyed a career spanning four decades and 21 studio albums with one of the most iconic bands in history.
But not one for taking a break when a tour is finished, Martin will be back on the road with Dan for their South West Tour, starting at the Ordulph on Wednesday, December 10.
Joining Martin and Dan will be John O'Hara on piano, keyboards and accordion; Robin Guy, drums and percussion, and Alan Bray, bass and vocals.
Martin, who lives in Plymouth, said: 'We had to cancel a show in Bristol so we thought it would be nice to still put on a show in the area.
'I look forward to doing this as I think it will be good fun, especially as it is for charity. Plus it will be nice for me to go home after the gig — something I am never able to do when on tour.'
The gig will be staged in the pub's function room and all profits from the bar will go straight to Help for Heroes.
Andy Coad, landlord of the Ordulph, said: 'It's a great honour to be able to support the lads [servicemen] who have done such a great job, and equally it is fantastic to have Martin Barre from Jethro Tull.'
Tickets cost £5 and are available by contacting Andy at the Ordulph. Doors open at 7.30pm.
