Carlsberg South Western League Callington Town 1 Penryn Athletic 3 THIS game finally burst into life in the final 20 minutes with three goals, a sending off, numerous chances, and controversy aplenty as Penryn continued their late charge up the table with the double over a plucky Callington side that need to convert their chances into goals if they are to compete at this level in the long term. The first 10 minutes were also very tasty as Luke Avis Riordan twice tested the Athletic keeper Chris Symonds. Unfortunately, either side of his chances in the first and third minute, Penryn took the lead at the other end. From a hotly contested free kick on the right, the ball was floated into the free head of Matt Salmon and he made no mistake with a clean header. As the half continued Callington began to press themselves but were unable to convert any of the chances that came their way. Town had ample opportunities to at least equalise in the second period but the Athletic attack broke clear and the final cross was messed up at the back and a Penryn player was deemed to have been fouled and Salmon converted the spot kick to double their advantage. On the stroke of 90 minutes, Lee Blatchford, looking suspiciously offside, along with two of his colleagues was given the benefit of the doubt and fired the ball past Symonds. Back came Penryn who regained their two goal advantage in the fifth minute of injury time to complete the scoring. One bad speck on Penryn?s copy book was the sending off of Steve Rowson late on.
