Peninsula South Western League division 1 west Hayle 2 Callington Town 1 CALLINGTON?S continuing Jekyll and Hyde character was again to the fore in this first ever match between the two clubs. Town were in the lead inside the first 30 seconds. Adam Fuller made a long clearance from the kick off and the ball evaded the defender but not Lee Crook up front for Callington as he calmly chipped Steve Luke in the Hayle goal. Callington?s German central defender Sebastian Jüstel almost notched his first goal after eleven minutes when he was denied a goalbound header by a deflection off a Hayle defender. Such was the visitors? dominance it took 25 minutes for Hayle to register their first shot on goal - a 20-yard drive from Adam Palmer that did not really test Fuller. But the game changed with Hayle stepping up the ante and Callington losing players to injury and ill discipline. On 31 minutes Town lost Kenny Spear to a hamstring injury and six minutes later they were down to ten men as midfielder Pete Floyd was red carded for two impetuous challenges. This six minutes of disaster was compounded on 41 minutes when, after they conceded a controversial free kick on the edge of the D, Liam Quinn gratefully beat the porous Callington defensive wall to beat Fuller courtesy of a deflection. With the man advantage, and playing with the wind, down the slope, the home side dominated the second period and gained the winner on 68 minutes when a disaster between Jüstel and Fuller at the back allowed Adam Palmer to score. The home side kept their advantage without really being pushed and celebrated their second league win at the final whistle. Callington have to raise themselves for this week?s diversion in the Cornwall Senior Cup as they have probably the most difficult game of the season, the visit of Premier Division leaders Torpoint Athletic to Ginsters Marshfield Parc.
