THOUSANDS of pounds has been spent re-fitting Johnson Cleaners in Tavistock to turn it into an eco-friendly 'GreenEarth' cleaners.

Town mayor Cllr Mandy Govier officially opened the revamped shop after £41,000 was spent to convert the store to offer GreenEarth cleaning technology.

The new technology uses a liquid silicone cleaning solvent derived from natural sand, and breaks down easily into natural elements if released into the environment.

The refit was part of a national programme by Johnson Cleaners to convert 150 of its stores to GreenEarth.
