TOWN councillor Sheila Gregory was recently elected vice-chairperson of the Okehampton branch of the Liberal Democrats, succeeding Cllr John Maguire, who sadly died earlier this year. Also elected as officers of the branch at the annual meeting held on November 8, in the Ockment Centre were: chairperson, Peter Webb; secretary/membership secretary, Shirley Webb; minutes secretary, Sheila Gregory and press and social secretary, Helen Cann. The following members were elected to the executive: Peter Webb and Cllr Pat Snell. Mr Webb reported that the branch had enjoyed a successful year. He said funds stood at £1,500 and donations had been made this year to the First Okehampton Scouts and MS. The branch?s next fundraising event will be a Christmas whist drive on December 21, in the Charter Hall at 8pm. The constituency annual meeting will be held in the Ockment Centre on November 25 at 7pm.
