OKEHAMPTON town councillors attended an extraordinary meeting of the full council recently to discuss and agree a response to the leader of West Devon Borough Council, in relation to the plans for the patches of land in the town earmarked for development.
A number of town, hamlet and district councillors attended a Developer’s Forum in September which had been co-ordinated by West Devon Borough Council. The subject was an exposition by the agents on their ideas for development of parcels three and four to the east of Okehampton (South of Crediton Road and east of Stockley Valley), within SP22A of the borough council’s Core Strategy.
The extraordinary meeting was held recently to form a response to this from the town council.
A spokesperson for Okehampton Town Council said: ‘The purpose of the town council meeting was to agree a formal response to the leader of West Devon Borough Council, which called upon; prioritisation of affordable housing, the allocation of Section 106 monies to support a town bus service after the cessation of the 318 service in September, a request for the borough council to clarify a number of points concerning the community-use allocation of Section 106 funding, foul water infrastructure, the urgency of infrastructure improvements — including the link road between Exeter Road and Crediton Road and a town centre relief road — and the basis for allocating funding for the access road to the proposed developments.’
