TORRIDGE District Council is warning residents to be wary of phone calls supposedly coming from the council saying there has been an accident reported.

The council is not making these calls and said it would never contact residents and ask for any personal or financial details in this manner.

If you receive a call from telephone number 001246 345345 be aware this is not a call from Torridge District Council and you should report this call to the police by dialling 101.

If you have given your bank details to such a caller you should contact your bank immediately.
