FOLLOWING last year's hugely successful comedy event, another hilarious evening of entertainment will open Calstock's annual festival next week.
The 'Stand Up For Calstock' event is the opening night of the Calstock Green Festival, which runs from June 7 to 10, and will feature a great selection of comic talent.
The line-up for this year's comedy bonanza will include the likes of Pierre Hollins, Amadeus Martin, Toby Muresianu and Bobby Freeman.
Jan Mead, comedy night organiser, said: 'The previous stand ups were complete sell outs and provided an amazing audience for the comics.
'The feedback I received was very positive — both from the audience and the comics who wanted to come back to Calstock. James Dowdeswell, who appeared in 2010 said the audience was fantastic and adopted one of the local residents as his Auntie!
'Taylor Glenn, who is currently working on a pilot TV show, got such a great reception that she came back in 2011.
'This year we have Pierre Hollins headlining, who is a regular on the comedy circuit and has worked alongside a host of stars including Lenny Henry and Rory Bremner.'
Pierre Hollins has been described by a leading newspaper as 'comedy rock and roll heaven'. He has made numerous TV appearances, including Saturday Live, the Rory Bremner Show, A Bit of Fry and Laurie and two short films for the BBC.
He has also supported Rory Bremner, Lenny Henry, Rita Rudner, Michael Palin, Willy Rushton and Barry Cryer and is currently filming a pilot for Channel 4.
Amadeus Martin's show has already taken to the stage of many leading comedy venues, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Comedy Store.
Toby Muresianu's smart but irreverent sense of humour has helped him tour across ten different countries, including South Africa, Israel, France and Slovakia.
A former engineer who started comedy while studying computer science and psychology, he offers sharp insights into politics, modern life and other topics while never taking himself too seriously.
The line-up is completed by the talents of Bobby Freeman and a mystery comic. Bobby began his career as an actor, working in TV, film and theatre before branching out into stand up. He is now a regular on the UK comedy circuit with his fast-paced, high-energy brand of observational humour.
The mystery guest is yet to be confirmed, so organisers are urging people to get their tickets so as not to miss out on possible comedy gold.
'Stand Up for Calstock' will be held in Calstock Village Hall on Thursday, June 7. Doors open at 7.30pm with the comedy starting at 8pm. Age restriction for this event is 16 years and over.
