A PRIZE-winning Tavistock author, who is establishing a growing reputation in the literary world, could be up for another prestigious publishing award.
Tom Vowler, who won an international prize for his The Method and Other Stories in 2010, has now been selected in the 'long list' for the Edge Hill University's Short Story Prize 2011.
He is now in with a chance of the first prize of £5,000, with last year's winner being one of the judges, Jeremy Dyson — of League of Gentlemen fame.
Tom, aged 38, is assistant editor of the literary journal Short Fiction. He will learn in May if he will make the shortlist for the Edge Hill.
He told the Times: 'It's thrilling to be in contention for such a prestigious prize, especially given the stature of those alongside me. The reaction to the book has been fantastic, proving that the short story is alive and thriving.'
However, the author is not resting on his laurels as he is busy working on his next novel 'All that Blinds Us,' which is set on Dartmoor.
