Kelly College swimmers returned home from the first of two weekends of the South West age group Swimming Championships held at Millfield School, Somerset at the weekendchampionships with three golds, one silver and bronze bronze medals.

A total of 29 personal best swims were achieved by 9 swimmers.

Tom Brew, aged 10, and Robbie Nielson, 12, from Kelly Prep School  and Kelly College won gold in the 400m freestyle the opening event.

Both boys led their race from start to finish and produced personal best times of 5.22.01 minutes and 4.49.31 respectively. Tom's time in the 400m freestyle broke a nine year old school record.

Kelly's Millie Murdoch, 11, got off to a great start by bettering the national qualifying time in the first leg of the girls 4x100 medley relay. Millie went on to prove her excellent form to win a bronze medal in an outstanding swim in the 200m backstroke final (2.35.74) which was a new pb and also a new school record.

Ben Staig, 11, won a bronze medal, in the 100m backstroke final (1.16.09) breaking an eight year long standing Kelly record. Tom Brew competing in the same event  won a bronze in (1.25.44) and went on to win another bronze medal in the 200m butterfly (3.14.82) later in the weekend.

A silver medal went to Robbie Nielson in the boys 100m backstroke (1.10.71) in a national qualifying time. Brittaney O'Reilly, 11, collected a bronze medal in the final of the girls 200m breaststroke (3.06.01) while Dan Gillard, 13, set a new Kelly record in the 200m breaststroke heats (2.53.35) and finished fifth in the final.

Robbie Nielson, once again showed great form to win gold in the boys 12 years 100m freestyle (1.02.44).

Other personal best performances by Kelly swimmers included; 11 year old Victoria Moore, and 12 year old Georgia Jones, Chloe Barrow and  Will Luckham-Down.
