YEAR 8 language students from Tavistock College enjoyed lunch at the town's Bedford Hotel recently — the culmination of this term's work in which the students learned about how to make reservations, order food, pay the bill and dress and behave appropriately.
The hotel gave the students a 'brilliant' opportunity to put into practice everything they had learned throughout the year.
Teacher Anna Mills said: 'The staff at the hotel were warm, welcoming and very hospitable. Watching other people in the workplace also enabled us to discuss the importance of personal presentation, politeness and readiness to work hard.
'The staff were extremely professional and were excellent role-models for our students who themselves were terrific ambassadors for the College.
'We had a fabulous lunch and it was made so enjoyable for all the adults because the students were polite, well-mannered and engaging.
'We were really proud of them and what we have achieved throughout the year. It is on occasions like this that we realise that we have the best jobs in the world!'
