I FEEL I must respond to the letter last week of Sheridan Mcginlay concerning her unfavourable impression of the new Tavistock Tesco store.

I have visited the store on several occasions and have found it light and airy, welcoming and well laid-out. The staff have been extremely helpful and, most importantly, very cheerful. I have had no difficulty in finding my required products and have enjoyed the minimal time encountered at the checkouts.

Oh, and I nearly forgot – it is quite a relief not to have a tannoy sounding off every few minutes imploring employees to go to the checkouts!!

Contrary to last week’s letter I have received very favourable feedback from others. Yes, the store is a refreshing change – if you haven’t already, give it a try.

Tavistock

REGARDING the newly opened Tavistock Tesco Store I would like to make some observations.

Tesco Tavistock is a small store under the restrictions imposed by the local councils and cannot stock the full range of goods that would normally be found in a Tesco store.

Due to a medical condition I have been unemployed for two years.

Thanks to Tesco coming to Tavistock, 50 local long-time unemployed people now have jobs.

Because of my inability with paperwork, I received, from Tesco management, so much help that they gave me the opportunity to work again.

This caring Tesco help also applied to some of the colleagues I work with now.

I have a friend helping me with this letter putting to print my own thoughts.
