THISTLES' defence of Pete Richardson, Jack Payne, Chris Spreadbury, kept the balls at bay with Shaun Moloney saving important balls.

Steve Gibbons sent some excellent balls into the box.

Beasley beat the deadlock with an excellent goal to lift Thistles. Rees came back at them but Lee Howells won good tackles and sent balls over the top for Paul Hoskin to claim the second.

Rees finally claimed a goal with only minutes to play.

Thistles fought to the end and never let Rees play the ball.

Tamar Valley Thistles 5

Weston Mill Oak Villa 1

THISTLES looked strong, determined and eager to get off to a flyer. Pressure mounted on Weston Mill and Langdon broke the deadlock 1-0.

Chances came and went but Thistles failed to convert, then on their first attack Weston Mill equalised.

In the second half Langdon hit his second, followed by a double strike by Soanes to make it 4-1.

Groombridge of Thistles completed the tally as Thistles hit five.

Weston Mill were league leaders, but Thistles now draw level with a game in hand.

This was a solid and great team performance.
