Culmstock 4

Okehampton Argyle 3rds 2

THE scene was set when three Okehampton players were injured within the first ten minutes. Shane Monnox received a bad knock to the ankle and took no further part in the game.

Rhys Morgan took a push to the back as he was shielding the ball. He tumbled awkwardly, colliding with Jon Carter, who strained his neck. Matt Jackson came on as a replacement for Monnox, although he later played in goal, while Carter played outfield.

Okehampton distributed the ball well, particularly captain Adam Griffiths, whose efforts produced a number of good runs down both flanks.

An eager Billy Spence took advantage of the space he was given and slotted the ball home. Shortly afterwards Alan Stepto headed the ball forcefully into the back of the net from Steve Kinsey?s corner.

Kinsey himself came close to scoring during the first half. Philip Yelland further continued to develop his football in the right back role.

Culmstock scored their first shortly before the half-time whistle.

There was little quality football in the second half. Culmstock applied pressure in various ways and managed to score three more goals.

Man of the match: Adam Griffiths.

This Saturday home to Crediton United Seconds, 2.30pm kick-off.
