MORE than 150 people gathered to celebrate the official opening of the Jubilee Walk, Mary Tavy's new footpath created by the community, on the May bank holiday weekend.
Everyone who walked along the footpath on the opening afternoon was given a badge with the slogan 'I've walked the Jubilee Walk' and there were balloons for the children.
Tributes were paid to all those involved in the path project and there was a celebration barbecue, adding to the community party atmosphere.
Due to the great success of the project, with huge community spirit and many local people giving up their time and making financial contributions, a 'Mary Tavy Jubilee Group' is being formed.
Future projects are being discussed and plans are currently being formulated for a Jubilee Bonfire on Monday, June 4 in a field off Jubilee Walk. The event is likely to include a hog roast, other food, fireworks and a disco.
