Okehampton Argyle 3rds 2

Dawlish Town 2nds 5

THIS long awaited home game saw Dawlish visit Simmons Park. The opposition fielded a strong, experienced team, which meant a stiff task for Okehampton.

Dawlish scored twice within 15 minutes, using their experience to penetrate the usually reliable Okehampton defence.

Okehampton fought back and made threatening attacks, including an excellent free kick from Griffiths, which was just tipped over the bar by the Dawlish keeper.

After chasing a lost cause, Morgan won the ball and set W Eddy on his way, but he was scythed down. Kinsey?s free kick picked out R Eddy, who headed the ball into the top corner.

Brilliant keeping from Carter kept the scoreline to 2-1 at half-time.

The second half opened as the first with a goal from Dawlish in the first minute, and their fourth followed as they outplayed Okehampton.

But Argyle dug in and fought back. Hooper won the ball in defence and slid it inside to Morgan, who played it forward to Evans via Ditchburn. Evans ran through the heart of the Dawlish defence and scored an excellent individual goal.

Despite spirited play from Okehampton on a slippery pitch, they conceded another goal. Although they lost, Okehampton were not disgraced nor dispirited.

Man of the match: Jon Carter.

This Saturday, home to Motel Rangers and Offwell, 2.30pm kick-off.
