WHAT will it take to make the minority of idle, irresponsible dog walkers to pick up after their pets? They are making a bad name for all dog owners.
I took my children to Courtlands play park on Christmas afternoon. While we were there playing someone actually allowed their dog to foul the main path, just feet away from the dog bin and left it there for a child to step or fall in.
We only saw two dogs there — you know who you are and you should be ashamed of yourselves! On Christmas day in a children's park!
Then on BoxingDay I walked my three children down Courtlands Road, onto Glanville Road and down Bannawell Street into town and came across six piles of fresh dogs' mess, including one large lot all along Brook Street.
I cannot believe that these lazy people used the holidays, with less people around, as a perfect time to leave their dogs' mess all over the place. The council crackdown isn't working because these people obviously have no shame.

THANK you for putting in my last letter regarding the unacceptable amount of dog mess in Parkwood Road, Tavistock.
Unfortunately, it continues to be a problem and I have witnessed an elderly lady near Lawsons get her shoes covered in the dog mess on her way shopping for food at the Co-op!
I personally continue to scrub the pavements off with disinfectant because it upsets me to see people get the dog muck all over their shoes.
It is on the cards that a handful of residents will form a group to monitor the dog walkers and catch out the culprits!
It looks like Tidy Tavi will be joined by another group, the DP Squad!
