WHILE agreeing with Mr John Taylor's aside on the Whitchurch Gateway in his letter appearing (Times, January 25), I cannot but take serious issue with him over his ideas for the inner relief road.
Has he considered, I wonder, how residents of Deer Park (a sizeable estate) and of Down Road and its tributaries are to enter and leave the Whitchurch Road if it becomes the main route at this point?
Turning out of Deer Park Lane is already awkward at rush hour and turning right into it from the direction of Whitchurch can be extremely horrendous as traffic approaches too fast from behind. I know of at least one rear-end shunt at this junction.
Finally, a school run occurs here twice a day in term-time.
