TAVISTOCK?s annual balloon fiesta has attracted balloonists from the continent for the first time this year, thanks to the event?s website.
The Westcountry Balloon Fiesta and Day at the Races, organised by the Lions Club of Tavistock and the town?s Round Table Club, is due to lift off on Friday August 22.
Steve Grummitt, Lions spokesman, said the six-strong Winsol balloon team from Belgium has now registered to attend the event, bringing the total number of craft to the 35-mark so far.
The event is being held on land at Crowndale this year, with the balloon teams using changing facilities at Langsford Park.
The fiesta was unable to use its normal site at Tavistock College as the school playing fields were due to be dug up and drained, starting this month.
But thanks to the support of Tavistock Football Club, Crowndale Recreational Association and local landowners, the fiesta will still go ahead, across the road from its usual site.
In addition to the spectacular balloons, there are a host of entertainments for all the family, during the whole of Bank Holiday weekend, including the popular pantomime horse races.
Mr Grummitt said there was still some space for trade stands at the event ? and new for this year, promotional clothing will be on sale, including T-shirts and rugby shirts.
Unfortunately, due to health and safety regulations, no dogs other than working guide dogs will be allowed on site.
Any companies organisations who wish to have a stand or stall at the balloon fiesta should call Steve Grummitt on 01822 615526.

Proceeds from the event will benefit local charities and St Luke?s Hospice.
