COURTNEY Players say their shows will definitely still go on, despite recording a large financial loss at their recent annual meeting.
Roger Partridge said the deficit of more than £700 on a recent production would not affect the Players' commitment to provide entertainment and acting opportunities in the Okehampton area.
'We pride ourselves that in the last 50 years, not one of the society's productions has been cancelled,' he said.
Spokesperson Chrissie Taylor said: 'Some productions do incur a loss, others break even and the big things, like the millennium show, usually bring in enough to counter-balance losses.
'Because we are committed to providing all sorts of entertainment, we still will do the ones that might incur a loss.'
Chrissie said that at present rehearsals are well under way on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for the annual pantomime, Sweet Dreams.
She said: 'It's got off to a very good start and will be on every night through the February half-term.'
