FAITH and education was the subject of the speaker at the summer Taste and See meeting.
Hazel Parker, an entertaining and enthusiastic speaker, described her life story, teaching in secondary schools in various parts of the country, including Plymouth and Exeter.
She spoke about the role of her faith in her work and how she shares her Christian faith in the daily challenges of schools today.
She said some of her colleagues and students had come to faith through the extraordinary events of the past few years and recounted one incident of how the headteacher was all set to cancel an outdoor trip on Dartmoor due to the heavy rainfall. Hazel suggested they prayed for the rain to stop which seemed impossible — in fact, it turned out the location of their trip had been the only dry place in Devon that day.
Ruth Newman, chairman of Taste and See, thanked Hazel for an excellent evening.
Further details of the Autumn Taste and see will be publicised in September.
