TAVISTOCK mayor Caroline Keane has sold her first ever painting at a recent town hall function. Cllr Keane sold her 'Circle of Life' painting to Kelly College for its new Arts and Performance building, which opens in July, at the civic ball last month. The painting depicts an ancient Mayan concept that a great bird flew into the darkness and found moons which gave the earth all species and the colours and environments associated with them. During the auction paintings were also sold by artists Ian Pethers and Maggie Squire. More than £700 was raised from the event to benefit the mayor's two charities: Tavistock Area Support Services and Children's Holidays for Inner City Kids (CHICKS).
